I am back home in States after 2 weeks in Europe, the last part of which was spent engaging with international researchers in Lausanne and Hamburg about ways to create more inclusive and equitable environments for scientists.
At the University of Hamburg, I was pleased to see the commitment of leadership at the highest levels, including in a visit I had with the University President Hauke Heekeren, and some wonderful interactions with Vice President Jetta Frost. In addition to a uni-wide lecture I gave, I also had a great informal discussion with graduate students and postdocs at School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences SICSS, Universität Hamburg, as well as a robust strategic discussion with the leadership of CLICCS, a cluster of excellence headed up by Johanna Baehr.
Prior to Hamburg, I was at the University of Lausanne, on a panel to promote gender equity in science. Check out my posts on Lausanne and Hamburg on LinkedIn.
I look forward to continued engagement with these amazing researchers, and am grateful to everyone who helped to make these visits possible and who welcomed me so warmly to their campuses.
